Twenty20 Becomes Longer!

The Twenty20 games of the Indian Premier League can become longer by ten minutes. The organizers of the Indian Premier League are planning to extend the duration of the match by having two additional breaks so that the match gets extended by ten minutes. Though according to the ICC rules, a Twenty20 game is played for three hours which has only one interval that is a 15 minute break. This interval is between the two innings.

Though ten minutes is not a big deal for the spectators watching the match, it is a great option for the broadcaster to make a lot of money in the duration of ten minutes. There will be two five-minute breaks which will be taken out from each innings. This could pave way for the advertisement slots which will return more money. This move is primarily for commercial purposes which could get the broadcaster nearly five million dollars per match.
