Increasing World Population

Hello friends, this time I have come up with a post which will give you some information about the world’s population in the coming years. The revised UN estimates show that the world population will hit 7 billion by 2012 and it will cross 9 billion in 2050. The developing countries will be having the majority of increase taking place in population. The half of the world’s population increase would be accounted by nine countries. India and United States are among the nine countries.

The UN estimates are still projecting that the population of the world by 2050 will be around 9.1 billion. The current world population is estimated as 6.6 billion. This number is constantly increasing because the births outnumber deaths. The fastest growing population is in the least developed countries. Contrastingly, there are even countries where the population is expected to decline by at least 10%. There are 45 countries which includes Japan, Italy and others where the population is expected to decline.

Atmospheric Changes Cause Headaches!!

Many people get headaches due to stress in their work or due to some other internal problems. But you should also believe that changes in atmospheric pressure and weather being warm can trigger headaches. The researchers have found out that even an increase of five degree Celsius in temperature can increase the risk of severe headaches. They have found that this can raise the risk of headaches by nearly 8% compared to days that are cooler.

Till now, there were only little evidences to back that headaches can also be caused by the changes in temperature, pressure and humidity. The research was done on 7,000 men and women who were diagnosed with a headache at the hospital. To analyze the temperature in the air, barometric pressure and humidity, they used certain monitors. If you are having a headache, just observe whether there was any change in the temperature or barometric pressure around you. If you observe any changes, then it may be the reason for the headache.

Have A Look!

Hello friends, this post is about a big step that has been taken toward the artificial life of the human beings. This is about creating a ribosome which is the cell’s factory. This ribosome is responsible for the proteins which help us to lead our day to day life. All the living organisms from human beings to animals to bacteria use this ribosome. Surprisingly, the ribosome used by all the living organisms is similar. It is not quite artificial life, but an important step in that direction.

They would also like to make a whole new kind of cell which is a mirror image of a replicating system. It may be possible to make other proteins in a lab dish without using living cells. These may include drugs that have been too hard to make now using a process called rational drug design, when drugs are built molecule by molecule to have a specific mechanism of action. However, a ribosome which is man-made or a reconstituted is programmable so that it can be used to create all kinds of molecules.

A Search For Earth-Like Planets

NASA has planned for the launch of a $600 million mission at the end of the countdown. Its mission is to find out whether earth is the only habitable planet in the whole universe or is there any other earth-like planet in our universe. It will be hunting for the habitable planets for three and a half years from the day it is launched. The main objective of this mission will be to search for the earth-like planets in our universe.

This mission will help the researchers a lot to answer many questions like how many planets have water in the form of liquid on their surfaces and how many are at perfect distances from the sun similar to earth. If a planet frequently passes in front of a star and because of that if it blocks the light from the star, it will suggest that a planet has been discovered.

Mind Reading!!

Mind reading was considered to be an art or a trick that helps to know what other people think in their mind. But now for the first time, scientists have researched and found that by looking at brain’s activity, it may be possible to read a person’s mind. In a computer-generated environment, a set of volunteers where asked to occupy different places.

With the help of a scanner which is used to measure blood flow, the scientists were able to tell where they were located. They just looked at the brain data and predicted this exactly. Though this cannot be termed as a complete mind reading, this opens up the way to develop machines that can read some range of memories. When they scanned the brains of the people, they were able to observe the activity of certain neurons in a region which is very critical for memory. This will certainly help the research in memory disorders and it can also help to find how the brain records memories in the hippocampus region.

Just Smile To Contol Your iPod!!

For many people, changing the music in their iPod is a kind of tiresome job. For those people, here is a great invention which will make their job easier. If you want to change the music on your iPod, you just need to wink, smile or just raise your eyebrow to make changes on your iPod or even to start the washing machine. The device is a Japanese invention which looks like a normal set of headphones.

These headphones are fitted with a set of infrared sensors that sense the different facial expressions. These expressions are measured by the sensors with the help of the tiny movements inside the ears. This device which is termed as Ear Switch is connected to a micro-computer that can control electronic devices. This makes it as a hands-free remote control for any electronic device. If a user who is wearing an iPod wants to start or stop music, he just has to stick his tongue out. If he wants to change the music, he just has to open his eyes wide. Likewise, the device can be programmed to function with various facial expressions.
